In the mid 1960s, Douglas Campbell and his wife, Moira, saw massive potential for the growth and development of a small, successful coal cash and carry, WM. McCrone and Sons, on Academy Street, Kilmarnock. In 1967, the opportunity arose for Douglas to purchase the company – and so he and his wife began trading as Campbell Fuel Oils. With a lot hard-work and commitment from both Douglas and Moira, we soon became well-known throughout the area for our reliable service and quality fuels, and we continue to uphold this reputation to date.
Just a few short years after CFO’s establishment, Douglas and Moira purchased their second commercial property and opened a new depot in Paisley. This new addition to the CFO brand allowed us to distribute to a far wider area.
Since 1985
With two small properties and a fast-growing company, we quickly outgrew our site on Academy Street and relocated to Hurlford Road, Kilmarnock in 1985. Campbell Fuel Oils on Hurlford Road is where you can still find us today, being our Head Office for our Technicians, Management and Administrative teams.
In recent years, the company has explored the vast technological advancements of the current energy market and soon realised the potential of branching out into new Energy fields. Campbell Energy has been created – a new entity within the existing CFO brand – offering renewable energy boiler installation, servicing and maintenance.
